My guess is that they just wanted an excuse to get breakfast at Gayle's
Gayle's. Otherwise, why bother?
The Latino Partnership for Conservative Principles is sponsoring a bus tour of California to try to draw Latinos to Candidate Fiorina. The bus is traveling the state under the banner "Vota Tus Valores," which roughly translates as "Bash Gays, Force Pregnancies." Today they made an early stop in Santa Cruz. The Sentinel covered it, and the Vota Tus Valores blog covered the coverage.
The VotaBus met with some spirited opposition this morning, and local reporter Kurtis Alexander of the Santa Cruz Sentinel reports:The ellipsis is in the original. Let's see what got left out:
A bus tour promoting Republican Senate candidate Carly Fiorina made a brazen turn into largely Democratic Santa Cruz this morning where it encountered an expected protest against the former Hewlett-Packard CEO."We're here with a lot of courage," said Alfonso Aguilar, executive director of the Latino Partnership for Conservative Principles. "You known this is not easy."The mission of Aguilar and the Vota Tus Valores bus tour is to rally Latino voters to Fiorina's side. Their method is pointing out what they see as shared positions between Latinos and Fiorina on social issues like opposition to abortion and criticism of gay marriage."Don't vote for Fiorina because she's Republican. Vote for her because she shares our values," Aguilar said.... Fiorina faces incumbent Barbara Boxer in the Nov. 2 election. Polls suggest she's slightly behind but within reach.
The dozen or so protesters, who met the bus at its scheduled stop at the Santa Cruz Mission, outnumbered supporters.¡Éxito total! From the bus tour schedule I notice the Santa Cruz visit was scheduled for 9:30 this morning. This undoubtedly kept the number of protesters low, as Thursday night drum circles run late in Santa Cruz.
Next stop, haybaler country!

Now let's see Meg Whitman do it.
