We'll take care of Inter Milan and Real Madrid, but Lord deliver us from Wigan Athletic
Last season Wigan Athletic finished 16th in the English Premier League. They did better than West Ham in terms of points but had a league-leading -42 goal difference overall. This season hasn't started off too well: In Week One they got blown out by Blackpool 4-0, and in Week Two they got even more blown out by Chelsea 6-0. That's -10 after two games—perhaps they're trying to set a record. Their Week Three opponent today was Tottenham Hotspur.
Tottenham Hotspur finished fourth last year and qualified for the Champions League playoff. They faced off against Swiss league runner-up Young Boys, if that is indeed their real name, and beat them, thus securing a spot in group play. The second of two matches, which the Spurs won 4-0, took place on Wednesday, and after forward Peter Crouch talked a big game.
"We want massive games," said Crouch, who, along with Spurs' other Englishmen, was watched by the England coach, Fabio Capello, and his assistant, Franco Baldini. "We want Real Madrid and Inter. You don't know how good you are until you play against the best. This is massive."The Champions League lottery was held Thursday, and Crouch got his wish. Tottenham Hotspur is in Group A with Inter Milan.
As mentioned above, they played Wigan today. As not mentioned above, they lost, 1-0. Massive.

Who is this Ham of the West of whom you speak?
Still trying to figure that one out. From what I've read, they seem to exhibit an odd interest in a mysterious process called relegation.
It's a bit like auto erotic strangulation, IMO. Last year they got it just right and were able to limp onto a new sunrise. This year they seem to have forgotten the code to undo the lock
Ha.
I see they have this weekend off and then on September 11—September 11!—they play Chelsea. Pain.
September 11 resonances will overpower the weak and decadent Cheslea team and they will crumble before the truth and righteousness of the Westhammers.
Or not
