Embrace It (Apropos of Nothing)

An official statement from the Spanish Inquisition (Madrid, 1789).

Intolerance is a fundamental law of the Spanish nation, it was not established by the common people, and it is not they who should abolish it.
Shit, say what you want about the Santo Oficio, but at least they were true to their reactionary principles and honest and open about them, to the bitter end.

Quoted here.

Funny that the common people here in this country are convinced that they are the ones who should establish intolerance.

Of course, they're being led by their noses...

(All ten pages well worth reading.)
