Like Dead verses Red: Some Things are Better
Than Others When They Go Head to Head

Civilization has produced major significant phenomenon of great value. But as the great George Orwell asked, “All animals are created equal, but are some more equal than others?” In his book Animal Farm, he answers this question, “Yes.” Likewise, comparing and contrasting different things and deciding which one is better can help us learn more about them. This essay will place arbitrary things head to head to determine which one goes on top. It will do this five times.

Where would society be today without safety and music? Not very far. But if we look at passenger-side airbags and the second time Beethoven moves in his sympathy No. 7, we see that one rises above the other. If, for example, someone doesn’t have the airbags mentioned in the assignment and they got in an accident, then they wouldn’t be able to listen to Beethoven’s moving symtphony anyways. Second, the episode where Homer goes thru a portal into the Third Dimension is also move helpful and therefore better than Mingus’s moaning because The Simpsons’s makes us laugh and teaches us about physics and portality at the same time. Finally, as further proof that music is good but not as good when you put it up against something else, the Foo Fighters is obviously not Nirvana, but the guy in Foo Fighters is banking on being in Nirvana, so the movie with the chick from Friends is overwhelmingly superior.

Major historical figures in American history and major sporting events also help us understand who we are, where we come from, and where we’re going. The essay question asks us to compare Wallace Stevens’s “Notes Toward a Supreme Fiction” and Game Seven of the 1991 World Series between St. Louis and Minnesota. Last semester I took a class on American history in the Cold War, and I learned about Adlai Stevenson and George Wallace, but I don’t remember anything about Wallace Stevenson. So he must not be that important or real. Plus, even though I have yet to have the pleasure of seeing Game 7 of the 1991 World Series, game 7’s are timeless classics for the ages. In summary, the game is better than the possibly fictional historical figure’s fiction, even if he calls it supreme.

Third, there is one more comparison this essay will make. The comparison is between The French Revolution and DVD’s. The French Revolution introduced some really important ideas about government and society that are still around today, like liberty, equality, and fraternity. But look at how many people were killed by the French Revolution. I’ve never heard of anyone dying because of DVD’s, not even the pirate DVD’s.

This essay has compared and contrasted different things. It has shown some are better than others and explained why. In conclusion, putting things head to head teaches a lot about them, about how they compare, and about ourselves.

Very nicely done! I've read a lot of student essays and this one is better than some of them!

Thanks! I worked really hard on this one, and didn't even use Wikipedia.
